At Albany Infants, our choice of computing curriculum is Purple Mash. Computing lessons develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.

Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate and are able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas using technology at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.

Through Purple Mash, our children are taught to understand what algorithms are and how they are implemented as programs on digital devices.   They can create and debug simple programs and use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs. The children use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content.  They can recognise common uses of information technology beyond school.  It is so important to us as a school that our children use technology safely and respectfully.  The children are learning to keep personal information private and they identify where to go for help and support they need when entering the digital world. This will help keep our children safe now and in the future.
